Spring Term 1

We have been discussing our Moor Than Books choices this week in class. Both Kite Rider by Geraldine McCaughrean and Good Omens by the powerhouse duo of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett have been well received by students, prompting some great discussions and thoughtful responses.

We are extremely excited about the choices for next half term.

Key Stage 3 will be reading ‘Trash’ by Andy Mulligan together. It is truly brilliant, for lovers of adventures, feel good stories or fans of Slum Dog Millionaire, it was one I just couldn’t put down! All students will be sent a pdf copy of the novel via Satchel One, so everyone can join in with this choice.

Key Stage 4 will be reading the equally brilliant ‘Cane Warriors’ by Alex Wheatle  - which has rave reviews across the board and ties in very nicely with Power and Conflict poetry themes of freedom and slavery and highlights the importance of human rights. Wheatle’s life was recently portrayed as part of the BBC Small Axe series. He is certainly a fascinating character and a great writer!

The Epic app followers will be reading the classic ‘Call of the Wild’ by Jack London – definitely starting the new year with a bang!

We look forward to another term of great books.

Wishing you a very happy Christmas
