CV Writing

A CV (curriculum vitae – a Latin phrase meaning the course of your life) is a really important document. It’s an opportunity to sell yourself to potential employers, by highlighting your key skills and experience, among other things.

In Year 10, all students learn how to write a CV during ‘Get Set’ sessions, but you can always start earlier if you prefer. There are lots of useful websites out there, such as the National Careers Service, which offer advice on what to include (https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/careers-advice/cv-sections) or My Perfect CV (https://www.myperfectcv.co.uk/build-cv). Alternatively, if you have created a Career Pilot account, you can get tips on their website (https://www.careerpilot.org.uk/stories/how-to-write-a-winning-c-v).

If you missed the Year 10 Get Set session on writing a CV, or want to add to your CV, the Powerpoint and template are at the bottom of this page.
