Core Transferable Skills

In an ever-changing world of work, we are conscious that many of our students will end up employed in jobs that haven’t even been invented yet. That’s why we promote the value of ‘core transferable skills’.

The World Economic Forum estimates that young people entering the workplace today will have, on average, nine different careers over their working lives. The value of core transferable skills has never been higher, so that young people do not become stuck in one type of career and unable to move to a new type of job. For example, accountancy used to be considered a very stable job; however, new technology has automated some of the role, and some accountants have had to cross-train to something different. Core transferable skills, such as teamwork, creativity and problem-solving, are crucial if you want to be able to work in a new industry by demonstrating during an interview that you can work in different environments.
