Year 11 Geography Field Trip to West Wittering - September 2019
Our GCSE geographers visited West Wittering this week to complete the required fieldwork element of their geography GCSE. Students took part in a range of fieldwork activities designed to increase their awareness of coastal management strategies and the threats facing many areas of the UK coastline. All students carried out practical assessments including how effective the sand dunes and groynes are at protecting the coastline and also completed a bi-polar survey designed to assess their opinions on coastal management strategies and how they impact and benefit the local environment.
Students also had the opportunity to meet the West Wittering estate manager who provided an interesting and informative talk on the history of the Wittering’s and their plans and strategies to become more sustainable for the future.
Students must be commended on their excellent behaviour throughout the day and for their enthusiasm and commitment to participate in the required activities. #welovegeography!
