Moor Than Books
It hardly seems like five minutes since we were celebrating the end of term and looking forward to a long summer holiday of reading and relaxing!
This half term, the focus read for us is 'The Boy at The Back of The Class' by Onjali Rauf. We thought it was a fabulous book to ease us back into a busy term and kick start another year of sharing fabulous reads.
We would like to encourage as many of you as possible to join us: download it on your kindle, borrow it from the library, visit your local bookshop. All of Year 7 have been introduced to the book by their tutors and in English lessons and Year 8 and 9 through their cultural creativity lessons. It is a wonderful story about the power of friendship and well worth dipping in to.
For Key Stage 4 and those readers who relish a challenge we have chosen The Nest by Kenneth Oppel. It is a brilliant, cleverly written short novel, which will definitely stay with you for a long time after you have put it down! If you like something a little bit odd, you will love this one!
Our first social meeting for the students will be on Monday 21st October, where there will be plenty of cake and an informal chance to chat about the books we have read. Please add it to your diaries for your children.
We look forward to a great year of reading.
