DofE Cookery Skills - January 2020

At the latest Duke of Edinburgh session students practised their cookery skills. They were given a goody bag and explored which items might be best for them to take and cook for their hikes.

Whilst practising setting up a trangia stove and using gas, the students had to think about convenience (cooking in a field), freshness (items would be in their rucksack for 9 hours) and calorie content (or energy). The boil in the bag meals came out on top for this group, so they won't go hungry on their hike now!
