The Secret Theatre

THE SECRET THEATRE has been built.

One of Court Moor's biggest secrets is the serene woodland which leads down to the canal which has been out-of-bounds for a number of years. In response to the pandemic we decided we wanted to show how much we valued the arts and to offer students the opportunity to perform, and so the idea of an outdoor theatre was born.

Over the summer the site team designed and built the theatre which opens this week with 'Pretty Ugly' a Year Nine play. The theatre is designed to be environmentally friendly and has been designed to create a 'shared space' with nature, once humans have left the space is handed over to the local wildlife.

The first productions and the equipment has been supported by a grant from the Blue Spark Foundation who supported the school with a generous £5000 grant. After 'Pretty Ugly' there will be a promenade show the following week of 'Alice in Wonderland'. In time we hope to host a range of school and community events - and some professional theatre and music too. We are very excited about this unique, magical space and hope you are able to share the secret soon.
