Science Club: Cotton Reel Cars

Science Club returned to Court Moor for January 2022. Year 7-9 students were safely accommodated as separate year groups with the support from 5 of our Science teachers to undertake the building and racing of 'cotton reel cars'. Students found out about the way in which F1 teams have, to consider a number of Scientific principles, to ensure that the balance between thrust and friction enables cars to race successfully. They then applied this knowledge to build their own racing machine and within each year group we raced to see who went fastest and furthest. Great fun was had by all, despite some cars going round in circles or backwards!
