The Class of 2012
On Thursday 23rd August students gathered together in the sunshine in school to collect and open this year’s GCSE results. Whilst the publication of exam grades has, for some students, parents and staff, been marred by the controversy surrounding grades awarded for GCSE English, it is important to recognise the achievements of the class of 2012.
This year, members of year 11 achieved some of the school’s best ever headline figures. 86% of them attained 5 or more GCSE A* - C grades and a total of 39% of grades were at A and A*! Two students, Daniel Ayres and Christian Rennison-Jones achieved 11 A* grades, whilst Sanskrithi Sravanam, Catherine Jenkinson, Natasha Pain and Nadia Lesniarek-Hamid each gained 10 A* and 1 A grade. A further 24 members of the year group achieved five or more A* grades – well done to them all!
The atmosphere on results day is always something special and this year was no exception. In spite of the disappointment experienced by some students in relation to their English grades, 79% of students met or exceeded their targets, many of which were incredibly challenging. They worked hard with their teachers and we are delighted to be able to congratulate them on their excellent achievements.
Next week the school will be contacting individual students regarding English results – please click here for further details.
